Olivia Kew-Fickus has been Director of Strategic Planning at the University of Birmingham since 2012. She leads on institutional strategy and KPIs, annual planning, business intelligence and data management, risk, and research planning (including REF preparation, impact, and public engagement). Educated in the USA, she has over fifteen years’ experience in higher education in the US and the UK, having held positions as executive officer to the Vice-Chancellor and Registrar, school manager, research support, and international projects development. Before her career in HE, she worked in international development in Ukraine. Olivia is a member of the TRAC Development Group and UCAS’s Qualifications Advisory Group on behalf of HESPA, and she also chairs HESPA’s Training Committee. Olivia holds an undergraduate degree in history from Princeton and an MBA.
