Higher Education Data Insight Group (HEDIG) vacancies

27 November 2024      Jen Summerton, Executive Director

HESPA’s Higher Education Data Insight Group (HEDIG) exists to enhance understanding of data on higher education and promote and influence better use of such data within the public domain broadly and, more specifically, within UK public policy. We are pleased to advertise two vacancies for the committee and are specifically looking for representation from the following:

  1. One member from a Scottish institution
  2. One other member

The group is made up of a combination of institutional/university representatives (mainly strategic planners or related roles) and a number of representatives from government and sector bodies. You can find out more about the group, including Terms of Reference and full committee membership online.

If you are interested and work in either of the above institution types, please apply by submitting a copy of your CV and a short cover letter (no more than one side) explaining why you are interested in the role and what you think you might be able to bring to the committee. Please send these to Jen. Depending on interest levels, we might arrange a series of short interviews. Applications are to be received by 9am on Friday 3 January.

If you would like an informal discussion about HEDIG and/or the role of its committee members, please contact either Jen or committee chair, Laura Knox.

All appointments to this committee are based on individuals’ knowledge, skills and experience, and also on the type, location and mission of their institution. Therefore, if committee members move to a different institution whilst on the committee, their role must be re-considered rather than automatically continuing.

We are looking for members to be active and engage in discussions, rather than being silent committee members who do not contribute to meetings or related work of the group. The group meets quarterly via MS Teams and there are sometimes opportunities to volunteer for sub-groups taking on specific projects or research, e.g. the recent SSR consultation work was led by a small steering group comprising a handful of members of the main HEDIG.
