Implementing Strategy at the University of South Wales
Date: Wednesday 21 September, 12:00 - 13:00
Presenters:
Paula Keys, Director of Planning and Performance, University of South Wales
Description:
The implementation of the University of South Wales’ 2030 Strategy has provided a transparent and engaging model for aligning both strategic projects, transformational change and financial decision making.
The organisation of the implementation of the USW 2030 has been developed through a model of collaborative delivery and decision-making which is transparent to our staff, students and stakeholders.
The creation of Executive sponsored workstreams, focussed on four areas with a range of delivery projects has ensured that work is appropriately organised, investment is prioritised and that staff and students are engaged.
The communication has been managed through a number of vehicles, including intranet sites, blogs and Townhalls with the resulting engagement from staff and students being extensive. Over 300 staff and 40 students volunteered to join project groups and the selection of staff and students has been inclusive in focus, in terms of ensuring a range of engagement across roles, levels and diverse groups to deliver the key work.
The model also aligns to our Critical Success Factors and our Planning and Performance cycle to ensure that the delivery of the strategy is measured for impact and that planning prioritises the delivery of our key objectives.
