In this HERMN (Higher Education Risk Management Network) session, we will be joined by Azad Hajiyev and Kieran Fowler to talk about managing the growing cyber risk to our HE establishments.
Managing the cyber risk: Insights from a University CISO
They will set the scene leveraging intelligence from the Waterstons Security Operations Centre that is responding to attacks daily on higher education establishments. Detailing what the attackers are doing, and the protective measures needed to stop them.
They will then explore the NIST framework, linking it to sector challenges within the Identify, Protect, Detect, Respond and Recover categories. They will explore issues like the unmanaged estate, expectations of privileged access as standard, sharing data securely and the difficulty obtaining suitable cyber insurance.
Participants can expect insights that they can take back to their institutions, real-world examples and sector specific advice.
