Daniel has been working with data in UK higher education for over 15 years. Having previously worked in student data roles within HE providers, Daniel joined the Higher Education Statistics Agency in 2006 with a remit to develop the training and consultancy function – growing its reach from 100 delegates annually to over 3000. During his time at HESA Daniel worked with over 150 UK higher education providers and overseas governments across a range of activities such as improving data capture and quality assurance processes, enhancing analysis and league table performance (collaborating closely with HESPA), as well as identifying improvement strategies for data capability and governance. In January 2018 Daniel took up the post of Director of Planning at Arden University with a broad remit across planning and statutory compliance activities. In February 2019 Daniel became Deputy Academic Registrar at the University of Wolverhampton, where he is responsible for student administration and systems. Daniel co-authored a chapter on ‘Data capability across the information landscape’ within ‘Higher Education Strategy and Planning: A professional guide’ (Routledge, 2018), and is chair of the HESPA Training Committee.
