HESPA 2022 Annual Conference

Welcome to HESPA22! Having run our most successful annual conference to date virtually last June, welcoming over 1200 members to the event, we have decided to stick to the same model this year to enable the wide array of colleagues we welcomed last time to attend again.

The theme this year is all about next generation planning and data demands of the new world, including how to manage the new data landscape, tertiary review outputs and new regulatory requirements, but also how we can harness the power of data to make change happen, and work towards solving some of the big issues of our time.

How can we measure the effectiveness of new learning mechanisms? Are we facing new data requirements to support positive changes being made in EDI, climate change, graduate employability, and other current challenges? How can we exploit new data requirements for maximum impact? How do we strategise and plan amid fundamental changes to business models? These are but a few of the questions we'll be delving into, and we really want your input.

Planning 2.0: Data demands of the new world will bring higher education colleagues together to discuss, debate, challenge, share and learn. As we saw last year, despite the virtual nature of the conference, it is still a great opportunity to network and catch-up with old friends, as well as making new ones. We are, again, running with an institution-wide ticket model, and this is something we really want to promote again to ensure that you are getting the best possible value for yourself, your colleagues and your institution. We actively wish to encourage cross-departmental engagement to enhance systems, processes and better working practice, and to forge valuable links and relationships which we hope will continue far past the event itself.

With a mixed programme, including plenaries, workshops, business sessions, speed networking and awards, we believe that there will be something for everyone. Sessions are not strictly strategic planning-related (whatever that might be – our most recent Planning Remit Survey responses continue to illustrate the breadth and depth of strategy and planning work that goes on in the sector). We are delighted to offer PHES-wide sessions from our partner SIOs and beyond, and their members are welcome too, so when we say ‘institutional access’ we really mean it.

Please share this opportunity to your higher education colleagues far and wide and make sure you save a decent chunk of time in your diaries for conference week to make sure you can ‘hop in’ to absorb and engage.

Take a look at our conference microsite to find out more about the programme, our speakers and supporter, and how to book!

We can’t wait to see you there!

Please note: We have introduced a tiered ticket model this year to acknowledge the time taken to organise the conference and to ensure financial equity across our diverse membership. Please check your institution’s band before placing the booking and ensure you choose the right ticket type. Institutions and their respective bands can be downloaded and viewed here.
